Hey! I need some help upgrading my bike. I bought it at a local surplus shop; the frame is alloy, and I want to convert it into a road bike soon. I have some basic knowledge of parts, but I’m not entirely sure what to get. I plan on moving to a 2x8 drivetrain. A bike mechanic suggested:

1. Bottom Bracket
2. Crankset and Chain
3. Cassette
4. Front and rear Derailleurs
5. Brifters and Handlebars

I know it’s a lot of work and I’m on a budget. I want to get my money’s worth since I’m riding for my health and long-term fitness. Here are some photos of my bike for reference. I appreciate your help
