Brief Escape along the Hudson

I made my way up to Fort Montgomery and set out along the Appalachian Trail with more ambition than sense. Since this was a spur-of-the-moment decision, it went about as well as could be expected given my lack of readiness. My dog and I managed the short stretch we covered, but it didn’t take long to realize we weren’t equipped to push much farther or repeat it anytime soon. Before long, I decided to leave the trail and head toward Cold Spring instead, taking the Hudson Line back down to Manhattan.

I’m tired of the city. I just want to be in the woods. At least there’s always Central Park.
