They have tried many times

“Lemme scooch over here and drop this twig on your head. I’ve done my part. Okay bye!”

* They have tried multiple times to build a nest on this 3 inch wide area above my door. I have found twigs all over my porch. I hope they succeed, but it isn’t looking good. Especially with the way Harold is “helping.”

Took me WAY too long to learn this lesson

For 2 years I had been putting out peanuts IN the shell - because everything I read said blue jays love them the most and you’ll attract them better. Well, rats love them too. Two weeks ago I had enough and I switched to the shelled peanuts and omg - I get even more birds now, including a woodpecker who comes by daily.

I’ve slowly been picking up the leftover peanut shells in my yard, it’s gotta be 1000s of pieces. Mostly left by squirrels I’m guessing. I regret ever using in-shell peanuts. The shelled peanuts may be a little pricier, but they are lasting me so much longer. And my backyard is “clean” again. I am literally the face palm emoji.
