Hello everyone, I applied for a one-year non-degree Chinese language program at Zhejiang University and recently received a pre-admission email asking me to pay the tuition fees for the autumn/winter semester.

However, when I applied, I selected a full one-year program including both semesters:

  • September to January (autumn/winter)
  • January to July (spring/summer)

So I’m a bit confused because the pre-admission only mentions payment for the first semester, not for the full academic year. Is this normal for Zhejiang University’s Chinese language program? Do students usually pay semester by semester even if they applied for one full year?

I’m also wondering about the visa situation:

  • Would this mean I will receive an X2 visa only?
  • Or is it still possible to get an X1 visa for the full year?

If anyone has experienced the same situation at ZJU or another Chinese university, I’d really appreciate your advice.

Thank you!

Hello, I’m going to China in September for a non-degree Chinese language program, and I will probably attend Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). I would like to know what life is like there, because it seems a bit far from the city center (which concerns me a little).

I would also like to know, for those who are familiar with the area, whether there is a bouldering gym nearby, or where the closest one is and how long it takes to get there. I’d like to continue practicing climbing regularly during my stay. Thanks
