I just bought a 2012 lancer evo gsr a couple days ago. Yesterday me and a buddy noticed the car was hunting for idle slightly. We boost leak tested the car at the turbo inlet at 10 psi and found a couple couplers near the intercooler were leaking. We tightened and retested at 21 psi. The car is at 126,000 miles and it appears that the turbo seals blew after the test as it’s now smoking from the exhaust out the rear, smoking out of the turbo, and appears to be leaking out of or near the turbo. Because it appears I’ll be needing to get a new turbo anyways should I explore upgrades or try to find an oem turbo? If I do upgrade I’d want to mainly go with a faster spoiling turbo and not looking to push much more power. The car is modified with bolt ons so I was going to get it retuned anyways. Also it appears the o2 sensor wiring has been snipped right before the o2 sensor. The car doesn’t have a cat so as far as I can tell this would be the only o2 sensor but it appears disconnected. Does that mean the car is most likely tuned open loop to run without the o2 sensor? Any help would be appreciated, still pretty new to evos. Thanks
