This is gonna be a long year

I haven't even submitted yet, and I can feel the anxiety of waiting in my bones.

it doesn't help that the premed resume leaves few alternative careers.

What could we use our draft picks on?

Could it be possible to consolidate our seconds to get a higher pick? Maybe draft more PGs?

It's all or nothing at this point. About to switch flairs from "gap year" to applicant.

Rockets' draft assets:

2026: No FRP, 2 SRP

2027: PHX unprotected FRP w/ BKN FRP swap rights, 1 SRP

2028: Own FRP, 1 SRP

2029: Own FRP w/ DAL or PHX swap rights, 1 SRP

2030: Own FRP, No SRP

2031: Own FRP, 1 SRP

2032: Own FRP, No SRP

We can potentially get a lottery pick next year and then continue contending if that pick pushes the team up. Otherwise, we can move short-term pieces in 2029, likely use a PHX lotto pick to draft a young prospect, and then benefit from lottery picks in 2030-2032 to make a second shot at building a contender.

For now, it makes more sense to run this core until 2029 after which we would fully benefit from a tank.

Next season, if we are back in the playoffs, that’s the last test to see if this core can get out of the first round. If we can’t, then it’s time to start cashing in our players for more picks or younger talent, and doing another rebuild.

We have all the momentum. Reed is blossoming. Bari is a cold blooded killer. Tari is doing more good than bad. Aaron Holiday has been hitting big shots. Sengun and Amen have been tiring them up down low. I can see the vision. Rockets in 7.

Edit:

Forgot to add, KD has been talking shit on the bench and on social media with his real/burner accounts. The final nail in the coffin. Rockets in 7 is inevitable.

I wonder how many more can open given limitations due to rotation capacity. I feel like with the rapid DO expansion and uptick in MD over the past 15 years, there should be a point where there can’t be any more expansion due to lack of new rotation spots. Do you guys think we are close to saturstion yet?
