Hello, long time lurker. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I experienced my car backfiring last week and it was very accidental. (Over revved trying to make it up a hill from a stop. Let the clutch out a little too quick, car almost stalled, and bang) first time experiencing this and was worried. I've been monitoring the car for any symptoms but it seems that the car has improved.

After the backfire:

- doesnt hesitate as much at low rpms

- feels alot smoother at lower rpms (much like it feels at 4k - 6k)

- the exhaust sounds smoother and not as gurgling at lower rpms

Im wondering if my car need to let out a fart that cleared something and now changed the way it drives (for the better). Is this even possible?

Should I be looking for anything to detect if something was causing the hesitation at lower rpms? (In the event that my hesitation returns; bought spark plugs but didnt get around inspecting my current ones yet)

Car: 2022 toyota corolla hatchback 6mt, previous owner installed intake and exhaust. I removed intake immediately but left the exhaust (was not provided stock) and have racked up about 5k mi.
