We have an old bathroom exhaust fan that is super noisy/vibrates. I've cleaned the entire fan out, pristine. Added some WD-40 to the main shaft that connects the motor to the fan blades. What I found out is there is an exhaust pipe leaving the fan system with a small circular metal "door" that opens when fan is blowing and closes when no air is moving. This little door is hinged into the circular exhaust pipe with two little metal axels that have just enough play to vibrate metal to metal while operating.
Is there any sort of "damper" I can put on it to reduce vibration? Or can I just permanently fix this exhaust gateway open so it doesn't ever move? Thank you!
