I was looking forward to getting back into some Lotro after a few months hiatus so I fired up the launcher to let it run some updates. It quickly got stuck on the update due to a corrupt .dat file so I tried the repair option through the launcher which is actually more akin to a reinstall than a repair. This is where I run into the issue described in the title. It will not get past updating client_cell_01.dat. I've done my googling and followed various advice such as this post from 4 years ago. I've tried installing it through Steam but then it just gets stuck on the corrupt .dat file again. I've tried the most common fixes as suggested from several different sources. I'm now trying to install it on my laptop after which I will transfer it over to my desktop using an external hdd.
With that little rant behind me - does anyone have any tips?
