I bought these Tacks XF 90 in a size 6.5 regular. I tried a size 6 regular but they immediately began cutting off circulation and failed the pencil test for depth. The 6.5s felt great in store, albeit a bit snug on the side. But there wasn’t any numbness or tingling. I figured they’d break in as the liner compresses. I did bake them.

I’ve spent a total of 2 hours on the ice in these skates and am wondering if they are too narrow. The sides of my feet near the pinky toe are quite snug against the side of the skates but they don’t feel crushed. My arches are screaming at me (I also overpronate which is a separate issue I know). I pulled out the insoles and it looks like my feet are spilling over laterally on either side. My left foot is longer than the right by about half a size, but I somehow felt more side pressure in the right foot last night. I tried loosening the forefoot to compensate but then struggled to feel stable in the heel/ankle all night. Also wondering if they’re slightly too long. I thought my toe was feathering the end of the toecap, but now I wonder if it was just brushing up against the top of the toebox.

I’m still in the return window but not sure if 6.5 wide or 6 wide is the better idea. I’m in Toronto and those skates in wide are hard to find in stock nearby. I may just have to order both and try them out, but would appreciate any advice. I also tried the M40s in regular but they felt too shallow. Do I just have short, fat feet lol?

Additional context: Not very experienced, getting back into skating / hockey after 10 years. My old skates are Vapor X5.0s in a size 6.5 and they are okay, but a bit shallow and causing some lacebite. I was skating 2 hours a week over the winter and now I’m in an adult power skating class that has a scrimmage at the end. https://i.imgur.com/AmDe4OO.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/1aiLaNj.jpeg
