Maryland - Our house was built in 1983. We bought it 2yrs ago & are the second, maybe third owners. After a recent electrical evaluation, I've been working my way thru the items I feel comfortable tackling i.e. upgrading to GCFI outlets, replacing light switches, changing covers, etc.

I've hit a snag with the exterior outlets. They need to be upgraded to GCFI/weather resistant. However, either the original builder or siding installers MAJORLY screwed up. As you can see from picture #1, they installed the outlet box OVER the outlets. The "Green" box (pic 2) is separate from the siding & feels like it's glued/sealed to the house under the siding. It is so tight I am unable to remove the old outlet.

Short of ripping off & replacing the siding, does anyone have any ideas?
