I recently bought a drum set off of FB marketplace. A set of birch mapex, they seem pretty sweet. I replaced the heads from the ancient and nearly destroyed Remos that were on it, to some Evans G2.
I overlooked the resonant head and I feel like the drums are giving me an inconsistent tone. A few warbles in the mix, lol.
I was debating on taking the heads off and starting from scratch, hitting the resonant head and the batter head with my drum key to try and get them to a better spot.
Question,,,if I take the heads off (which are fine and were replaced recently), would they be able to be reused? Or have I already stretched them out and should I focus on tuning the resonant head and fine tuning the batter head? I’m concerned that I’ve already stretched the batter head and the sound may be even more messed up if I take them off and try to readjust.
It’s been over 10 yrs since I’ve played and I’m real excited to be getting back into music. Tuning was never a strong suit of mine.
