For context, I drive a 2011 Tahoe I received from my mother when she was got a new vehicle and the timing was right. While I still began working my personal expenses were covered by my parents. Yes I know I was very spoiled and I’m incredibly grateful for it, I don’t want to take it for granted. Now that I’m on my own and handling my expenses myself, the rising gas costs and my low mileage are really starting to hit.
I’m a single guy with a 22 mile one-way commute, but I drive an additional 60-100 miles each week to see friends out of town. I don’t have anything large I personally need to haul either.
If you were me, would it make sense to get a RAV4 for the budget and all the new fancy safety features and whatnot, or continue to save up for something with a closer form factor? I’ve only started thinking that maybe I really shouldn’t save up for a new Tahoe as my lifestyle doesn’t really necessitate it and it just causes more problems.
