EasyJet - Crete to Manchester diverted via Milan
My mother was on the above flight from Crete yesterday evening due to land in Manchester at 11 pm-ish last night. The copilot was taken ill and therefore it landed at Milan Airport, where they had to wait 12 hours for a flight home the following day (today).
Passengers with young children took priority in securing overnight accommodation, which soon filled up, and left a lot of people in the terminal building overnight. Attempts were made unsuccessfully to secure accommodation in the city but as it was after 12 by this time, as there was no where available to book online. They were offered €27 per person voucher at 5 am this morning.
We are going to be submitting an online compensation form via the easyJet website this week but I just wondered if anyone had any advice on this? Do they pay out without a quibble, or is it like getting blood out of a stone?
It’s been a long day and caused a lot of distress; people have missed appointments and work commitments. Unsure where to turn.
