Hey everyone,
I’m honestly a bit frustrated and confused, so thought I’d post here and see if anyone’s been through something similar.
I’m a 47M from Australia
Type 2 Diabetic
Height: 185 cm (about 6’1”)
Weight: 106 kgs (about 234 lbs)
Background:
I used to be 135 kgs and worked really hard to get down to 106 kg through Keto and then Carnivore.
I’m also highly diabetic and wear a continuous glucose monitor. At my worst, my sugar levels were so high the CGM couldn’t even read them (over 27), which was pretty scary.
Current situation:
My GP has put me on:
- Metformin: 1000 mg twice a day
- Ozempic:
- 0.25 mg (first month)
- 0.50 mg (second month)
I’m still eating low carb / mostly carnivore.
One honest thing. I don’t crave sugar anymore, but I’ve somehow replaced that with Coke Zero / Diet Coke. I’m having about 3 a day. I know it’s not ideal, but it doesn’t spike my blood sugar, so I’ve kind of justified it.
The good:
For the first time ever, my blood sugar is actually under control (around 6–9). That alone feels like a big win. I just don’t know if it’s the Ozempic, the Metformin, or both.
The frustrating part:
- I’ve been on Ozempic for 2 months and haven’t lost ANY weight
- Still stuck at 106 kg
- I feel constantly bloated and uncomfortable
- I’m only going to the toilet like once a week
- It honestly feels like my digestion has just slowed right down
- Energy levels are pretty low most days
- Appetite is only slightly reduced, nothing dramatic like people talk about
I think what’s getting to me is that I expected something to change by now, even a little bit.
What I’m trying to figure out:
- My GP wants me to move up to 1.0 mg Ozempic
- I’ve seen people say that’s when it actually starts working
- Has anyone here had zero results at the lower doses and then success later?
Also being real…
- Could the bloating/constipation be messing with the scale?
- Has anyone stopped Ozempic and just stayed on Metformin instead?
I’m not looking for a magic fix, just trying to understand if this is normal or if I’m missing something.
Really appreciate anyone who takes the time to reply 🙏 Thank You!!
