Elevation Map with Cross-Section Profiles — South Sinai Governorate, Egypt

A comprehensive DEM-based elevation analysis of South Sinai Governorate, combining a full hypsometric tint map (ranging from −1 m at sea level up to 2,600 m at the St. Catherine highlands) with four cross-section elevation profiles (A–A1, B–B1, C–C1, D–D1) drawn across different axes of the peninsula.

The profiles reveal the dramatic topographic transitions across the region — from the flat coastal plains along the Gulf of Suez and Gulf of Aqaba, through the steep escarpments of the central mountain belt, to the high plateaus of the interior. The warm red tones in the southeast clearly identify the highest elevation cluster around Gebel Musa and Gebel Katherine.

Built entirely in QGIS using DEM data sourced from OpenTopography, projected in WGS 1984 UTM Zone 36N for accurate metric measurements.
