I recently got an official Nintendo made GameCube memory card and Wind Waker for the first time to play on my Wii and I remember hearing something about the memory card breaking after staying in a Wii too long but that may have been about an unofficial memory card, but I still want to be safe just in case. If it matters at all, I've had an SD card in my Wii for several years without taking it out and it hasn't corrupted or anything but I also haven't ever put any save data on it.
