I'm 35M. I have always imagined myself FIRE / Barista-FIRE at 40-45 years old. My math seems to work, assuming DINK, but hoping to get a second pair of eyes on this!
CURRENT NET WORTH - $1.4M
Liquid - $1.1M
- Company stocks - $500K
- ETFs, Roboadvisors - $260K
- HYSA (UOB Stash, OCBC 360, DBS Multiplier) - $290K
*Note - I'm planning to redistribute my portfolio soon as my company stock holdings is just for the company I work in. In other words, my portfolio is too concentrated in my company.
Illiquid - $255K
- SRS (invested via Endowus) - $40K
- CPF $215K
ANNUAL INCOME - $285K
- Salary + Bonus - $240K
- Company stock options - $45K
Breakdown of Annual Income into Expenses, Investments and Savings
- Expenses - $121K
- Personal Expense - $11K
- Contribution to Joint Account with partner (i.e. shared expense) - $36K
- Parent Allowance - $12K
- Insurance - $6K
- Miscellaneous (CPF, taxes) - $56K
- Investments - $93K
- Company stock options - $45K
- Others (ETFs, Roboadvisors, SRS) - $48K
- Savings - $71K
EXPECTED MONTHLY RETIREMENT EXPENSE - $6K
POTENTIAL CHANGES TO THE MATH
- We are not going to be DINK anymore. If everything goes well, I’m not sure how to adjust this plan to take into account a child. Hoping to get some help on estimates from parents in this sub.
- I feel immensely guilty for buying a car - but I think it’s necessary for convenience’s sake. I expect to increase my monthly expense by $1.5K (on top of what I’m currently spending on transport).
Nervous to post on this sub for the first time, but genuinely appreciate any time spent to help assess my long post!
