General Surgery straight to categorical
Hello everyone, new to this sub
Wanted to know my chances from people who have done this before; I am hoping to match general surgery.
Hopefully community, categorical.
I am a non-US img from Israel, visa requiring
- USMLE steps: passed step 1 , step2ck 265.
- USCE: 4 sub internships. 3 in general surgery 1 urology
- LORs: all U.S surgerons
- Research: two publications in my home country. Both surgical
- YOG0, applying very close to graduation
Is it realistic to match straight to categorical gen surg?
I tried to maximize med school as much as possible.
Also I am willing to reapply next year with step 3 done and maybe a couple more pubs. Not sure if this will move the needle much for community programs.
If anyone has any idea about categorical chances I’d love to hear!
