Hey everyone,

I’m a software developer based in Sector 81, Gurugram. Planning to buy my first bike for a daily 15 km one-way commute (~30 km total) to Sector 39.

I recently test rode the Triumph Speed 400, but it felt quite hot in traffic and slightly jerky for my current skill level. So I’m now looking for something more forgiving and refined.

Shortlisted:

  • Honda CB350RS
  • Honda H'ness CB350
  • Royal Enfield Hunter 350

A few specific questions:

1. Heel-Toe vs Toe Shifter (H'ness vs RS)
I usually ride in office wear (recently got Skechers Slip-ins). Is the heel-toe shifter on the H'ness a real quality-of-life advantage for daily commuting, or is a shoe protector enough on the RS?

2. Traffic Usability (Honda vs Hunter)
I’ve read that Honda 350s are tall geared and require frequent downshifting in traffic, while the Hunter is easier at low speeds.
For Gurgaon traffic specifically, does the Honda’s refinement outweigh the extra gear work?

3. Safety Features (Honda vs Hunter)
The Hondas offer traction control and a slipper clutch. As a relatively new rider, do these actually make a noticeable difference on dusty / low-grip roads?

4. Maintenance & Rust Concerns
I’ve seen reports about rusting on weld joints on 350s. Does anti-rust coating (like underbody treatment) actually help long-term in NCR conditions?

Looking for a bike that feels premium and I won’t regret after 3–5+ years of daily use.

Would appreciate inputs from owners / daily commuters.
