Is the Sony a6400 a good beginner camera for concert photography on a budget?

Hey guys!

(please don’t be mad at me, photography newbie here)

I’m thinking about getting my first camera and I wanted some opinions before spending my money.

I’m really interested in concert/band photography (mostly small venues and rock/metal shows), but I’m still a complete beginner and my budget isn’t huge.

I’ve been looking at the Sony a6400 because I keep seeing people recommend it, especially for autofocus and low light, but I wanted to know if it’s actually a good option for someone starting out in concert photography.

One thing I’m also worried about is the fact that it’s not full frame. I know a lot of people say full frame is better for low light, so I wanted to ask if APS-C is still good enough for someone starting out or if not being full frame could become a problem pretty quickly.

Would the a6400 still be worth it in 2026? And what lens would you recommend for someone on a tighter budget?

I don’t need anything super professional yet, I just want a camera that can help me learn and grow without becoming limiting too fast.

Any advice would really help :)
