Compex Work and Accreditation

Hi gents,

Gold card spark, 2391-52, SSSTS currently subbying on commercial sites. As we know the rates are nowhere near what we deserve!
Compex seems to be the only thing I haven’t got that would bump up the hourly rate significantly for an on the tools spark.

Luckily I have a job offer to go on with a firm that does compex/atex hazardous area type work however it’s on the books and the money is obviously less than what I’m on now.

I’m a fairly handy commercial/industrial spark and proficient when it comes to passing exams, so my question is;

Is it achievable to pass the course without any hazardous area experience? Or is it better to bite the bullet, take the drop in pay and get some experience and then go for the course?
