Hi, our trainer has recommended an e collar for our 18 month old and he’s responding well.
The mini educator was advised but I nearly died at the price! Has anyone used any (UK based) that are below the £100 mark please?
Before anyone gets starts, we’ve done all training types, he knows recall, but as soon as he sees a dog, that opportunity to play is the highest value reward beyond chicken, pate, his favourite toy etc. He will not return once a dog is running towards him for love nor money once he knows the long line is off. When he has a long line on he comes back because he knows he won’t have a choice. I’m expecting a baby and can’t manage a long line with a pram. It’s either an e collar or the next few years on a short lead. The occasional correction in my view is much less cruel than a dog living a life on a short lead where they don’t get the fulfilment they need.
He’s an exceptionally smart and high energy cavalier King Charles, like cocker spaniel level smart but with zero desire to work or please you, which is a deadly combination, he just wants to have fun, play and snuggle and if it doesn’t involve those things he gives you the middle finger!
