I see a lot of flat-earthers demanding “ground-to-globe” videos as proof the planet is spherical. I also often see the same people cite the absence of such videos as its own kind of proof to support their theories that the Earth is flat. I have a legitimate question, but I feel like it’s pointless to ask, and that I might even end up regretting asking, but here goes.
Why do they make demands for the videos when we all know the very first thing they’d do if they saw one is to loudly cry that it’s fake? Why would that suddenly convince them, when they declare every other piece of empirical and scientific evidence to be phony in one way or another? If they got the video they’re asking for, wouldn’t they just want even more? I don’t know. Just seems like another form of mental gymnastics so they can keep believing in fantasy.
EDIT: They’ve been given plenty of opportunities to take part in actual demonstrations and experiments that run counter to their beliefs, but they refuse to join, and declare it’s all fake. I just don’t know why this would be any different.
