So 8 months ago I started having dizziness and balance issues. I only noticed because my nephew and his partner came to visit, and I drove them out to the coast on 2 days. While driving on winding long roads I felt bizarre. Dizzy, and like my brain was malfunctioning, but it had nothing to do with eyesight, if that makes sense. The 2nd day it got so bad that I asked my nephew to drive us home. I was white knuckling it the whole weekend. I made an appt. with my PCP, and after doing neurological tests like blood alcohol tests? I failed many. My walking test saw me canting to the right, and uneven. She ordered a mri, which showed a ishemic stroke. But the neurologist said I had had the stroke within the last 2 weeks, and after my appointment with my pcp. Which made no sense to him or me. I got a zio for 2 weeks, a cta, and an echo with bubbletest. The test showed a pfo, but my neurologist is saying since my stroke was so small and without substantial side effects, he doesn't think I need a closure. I'm asking why I still am unable to drive, and he ordered vestibular therapy. I'm terrified I will have another stroke, and I have family history of heart attacks. What should I do to advocate for myself?
