This is my second time trying to post this. First time did not go over so well so I hope this works!

Here is my issue; I just moved into a new home 2yrs ago and me and the hubby are at max capacity in terms of finances. I want to have a detached shed that doubles as a home office and a cozy relaxation spot for me! I am neurodivergent and my house is tiny tiny and I love the family but I just need some space and separation. The house is only 668sqft 2br 1.5ba and we have 5 bodies living here. 2 cane corsos [5'4" 115lbs + 5'1" 89lbs], a 7yo, and 2 adults [me and hubby]. I built a partition wall 6mo into living here because I really needed space and that helped a lot! but it's fairing to be the case that we need to squeeze out just a little more space. Me and hubby agreed that the pups need their own room and so do I! So the plan is to either;

  1. custom build a standard 10x12 office via shed method
  2. Buy then renovate a shed or
  3. renovate our garage into the office of my dreams BUT we have hellah shit in it and do need some kind of storage

... so logically the idea seems to be to just custom build and leave our current garage alone. But again the other issue is still us being strapped for cash! we have 4-5k to play with in terms of a budget and that's virtually nothing! I am very handy and I know my way around a power drill and a nail gun. The problem is being cost effective because I live in Upstate NY so I get all 4 seasons and I have to plan and build for that! My dad is a licensed electrician so he will eat the cost of the electrical job required to get it up and running as a gift to me. But what should I do? Or am I just SOL until 2056 when I get my hands on 10k in the future?
