Context: I am a paralegal (I work on the debtors side in bankruptcy) and have never had creative talents. I played several instruments in grade school (violin etc) but I played off a music sheet. I cannot draw/write/create anything. At least I don’t think I can.
My boyfriend seems to be obsessed with us both making a living by what I consider creative endeavors (making video games, YouTube videos/vlogs, video recipes etc)
He has a full time job in restaurant management but we need some sort of side income to afford rent.
I am admittedly lazy and don’t really want to learn a new skill. I work from home. My work is mentally draining but also rewarding, 40+ hours a week. It doesn’t make much money though.
He rejects my suggestions for side income (doordash etc) and keeps pushing me to make a YouTube channel or get into video editing or similar. I have tried the video editing and I just cannot figure out what makes a video “look good”. I don’t have any ideas for video editing. I read really fast and understand stuff “more than the average person” so he also suggested book reviews or movie reviews. But I just don’t feel like anything I have to say is worthwhile or new. It sort of bothers me that he won’t listen that I don’t want to do anything that requires any creative ability.
I don’t really know exactly what advice I am asking for. Should I work towards learning a new skill? If so, what?
Can I grow creative talent, and if so, how?
