SOFI RANT
I signed up for SOFI back in August 2025.
Truly, it has been one of the worst banking experiences so far.
I am a grad student on a PhD salary and one of the reasons why I signed up was because they offered 4.0 APY boost and $300 cash bonus for setting up direct deposit ($5k within a time period)
I had to double check so I talked to multiple SOFI representatives that if I were to get desposited $10,000 into my Checking account by my uni that I'd qualify for both bonuses. They did!
I get it. I read the fine print that it must be qualifying deposit. But they reassured me they could convert the banking code it into DD so that I could recieve both bonuses. I didn't
Now, I have recieved over $30,000k from my university over the past year and I have not recieved any of the bonuses. I have accepted that now but always move my money out to Robinhood.
I chose SOFI because of these perks but their deceptive tactics and poor banking support has really soured my experience.
I also have had issues with their debit cards not working, them not honoring investment app bonuses (3x stock claw machine) and them cheating me out on rewards bonuses (giving me 2 points instead of 10 for credit report monitoring). And these bonuses I only recoved because I was hyper vigilant and proactive.
