Hey y'all! I'm looking at applying to grad school and I'm trying to figure out exactly what my GPA is; my institution calculates both

  1. an in-school GPA (this one is on my current transcript, I'm still finishing my undergrad degree) which only counts courses taken at this school towards your GPA; and

  2. an overall GPA which includes your grades from transfer credits.

I personally took a lot of dual credit (it's about half my degree) before coming to the school I'm at now, and my overall GPA is thus significantly higher than my in-school one. This has made me really curious which one will count towards my graduate applications, since the difference is enough that with the overall I'd qualify to apply to programs I wouldn't with the in-school. My advisors and school registrars have told me that the overall GPA is the one which I will officially "graduate with" and which I should put on graduate applications, but since my school transcript seems to include only my in-school GPA, I'm confused as to how grad schools would know my overall GPA/where I'd declare that/if this could potentially prevent me from getting considered for programs where my in-school GPA is lower than their application requirement (but my overall is higher).

Thanks in advance for any insight you might have!
