I wish there were better post-mortems after an MBTA issue. For instance, with the orange line power outage yesterday: was this a known issue? Does MBTA recognize that power lines are a weak link? Are improvements in their capital plan?

I wish the MBTA would release a statement along the lines of “We recognize the power issue on the orange line led to unacceptable delays to riders trying to get home from work. Our 5-year improvement plan recognizes our weak power infrastructure and we have a full overhaul planned and budgeted for by the end of 2027”

Or is this some new problem that we weren’t aware of and will only get an ad-hoc fix?
