I was thinking about opossum female pouches today and thought to myself, 'well, if females are born with pouches for reproductive reasons, then males must be born with a useless pouch, just like their useless nipples.' Lo and behold, they don't have pouches but they also don't have nipples! Mainly, only placental male mammals (like cats, dogs and us) have nipples, useless nipples.
