Anyone got WJEC unit 1 tomorrow
If so what texts and what do you hope comes up?
How are we feeling for the exam tomorrow?
I am doing Jane Eyre and Streetcar what about you guys?
Please let's all join together there are so few of us here 😅
Context: This is mainly about unit 1 section B. The exam is on Thursday
My English Lit grade has definitely been worse since September. I started around 40/60 now I'm down to about 25/60
Image's show my feedback I have gotten for my English lit teacher for this section of the unit
WWW,EBI and DIRT tasks she gave me.
(What went well, even better if, Direct improvement and reflection time)
I would like to say that don't think it's the worst thing that teachers give you the hint to work on your SPaG. It is part of the mark scheme (whether spelling should be is a different matter)
Especially if you I getting high grades and just want to push to get the higher stuff, 100% make sure they're spelling is perfect and better whatever.
My content is not good. My understanding is not good. I am amazing at drama I do A-level drama I get good grades at drama (50/60 on drama papers)
But when I can barely get the content I'm not going to be focusing on this small detailed of perfect spelling.
So yes it could be an EBI, as long as they include other stuff and what I can actually improve on and my main focus. I know I will have to work on my spelling but just repeating that every time isn't going to help I need to focus on the content and getting the facts right first. Because maybe I could spend an extra 20 minutes in the exam trying to make sure everything is spelled correctly (still unlikely going to happen). I will not be able to reach higher bands because I've spent too much time attempting to spell
But to tell me to spell correctly as my "Direct improvement and reflection time" task is atrocious. To give me a task on how I can improve my essay and just say oh make sure you spell correctly next time is not gonna help. All it's going to do is make me feel worse not want to do anymore.
She could easily have written something like oh maybe you write a paragraph about this. Try finding some good critics to add to your essay. Maybe leave like this paragraph but include more context (something like that is what most teachers do) even if they don't say what to include but just say try and do this better at least it's something.
\------------------------------------------------------
And I have a \*diagnosed condition\*. A literal \*learning disability\*. That \*effects my ability to spell\*. I find spelling extremely hard. I can't spell the word like it does parents because dairy correctly. Spelling has always been a massive struggle.
I also use a laptop in class and in exams because of other reasons... Linked to my disability so typos are common... Currently I am just trying to focus on getting the exam contents correct.
But now refusing to mark my work. I'm telling me to not hand it in with 'inaccuracies' what the hell.

You guys as pupils may/may not know this but if you use a laptop in an exam you do not get spell check!.
You do not have any autocorrect.
It is literally either
WordPad or exam pad (dependent on the schools budget)
It's just a document, that doesn't change punctuation it doesn't change captials, it doesn't change spelling it doesn't recommend anything it is completely blank it doesn't say anything apart from exactly what you type.
She is a younger teacher (born end of 99) but she has been teaching for the past 4 or 5 years, I literally use the laptop when she taught me in year nine...
I don't even know what I'm supposed to do anymore

Anyone sitting their drama paper one today?
I'm sitting WJEC and doing the Text." FACE TO FACE"
Is there anyone else sitting this paper (even with other exam boards)
I completed it
I am super happy with it
And there other questions were good
Question 4 was a bit weird but I think I did fine
You guys might remember but, I did this last year and you all love it, and so thought I would do it again.
GCSE/AS/A2/Alevels/other BETC or similar equivalents equally goes for your mocks
They are all stressful, they are all hard, and this is a tough time for all of us.
(Especially when you haven't finished your course yet)
AS Exams start on the 11th (Monday) and it seems you guys have your Mocks coming up soon
So let's relax and chill I hope this helps
Here is my Pet Cat.
Her name is ROSIE / Rosie Doo.
She is like 11 or 12 years old
She is a silver/grey tabby
She only likes my older sibling, who is now away at university.
She has caught many animals such as birds, mice, squirrel, wessal, frogs, butterfies and sticks 😂 (mostly alive if I'm honest 😂)
She is here to give you relaxation and calmness before this exam season.
Come back here to relax and chill and to say hello.
Anyway, you have got this, it is NOT the end of the world if you don't get exactly what you want, try your best. That is ALL you can ask for.
You have got this xxx
All the best your fellow year 12 xxx

Exams start next week 😭😭(like actual exams)
Lucky I only have 4 this year, because it has been so coursework heavy
EXAMS
- Drama Unit 2 (Face to face)
- English Unit 1 (Jane Eyre and Street Car)
- Cymreag Second language Unit 3
- English Lit unit 2 (Jane Eyre and Ted Hughes)
We have not really done a full past paper in any of the subjects yet.
I kind of did one in DRAMA last week, however that was across the day in the frees I had, but I was distracted but I think I also went over the time
Think we actually did Cymreag, however that is always set us homework, so I don't keep to the time. I'm technically also still using the notes because it's so much to learn and I don't know how to memorize it
For English we've barely done many practice essays. We've done nowhere near a full past paper.
Unit 1- consists of three questions
One extract and essay for Jane Eyre
One Essay for street Car
(And this is all in a two hours)
We haven't even done the extract essay in one slot yet 😅.
And I have finished all of my lessons with the two teachers for these two topics. (Only got two lessons of fortnite for each topic)
And one of the dirts she gave me was basically 'check your spellings' I am dyslexic so I really struggle with the spelling and that is one thing I've always not been able to do, like I struggle to spell the words parents dairy does I can't spell the word because without (boys eat cabbages and usually some eggs), I also have basic typos and stuff just because of typing fast you're gonna make mistakes
Cymreag- we haven't even finished the topic yet, we just went over one poem last week, and we have another poem to go over. We have to memorize them, (bear in mind they are in a different language) and we have to memorise all the analysis. The paper is basically a mixture between English lit and English language instead we have to do it in a different language so we have to do Cymreag.
English lit unit 2- teacher cats be an offset for ages so we are really far behind. When she did come in and she just used the AI worksheets which were completely wrong. Again we have a 40 marker and an 80 marker we haven't done a full one in school yet 😭
I do have a triple on Friday so luckily that's a bit more time. I had four lessons with this teacher fortnight so it was a bit more time but since she was offset for ages it kind of leveled out at the same amount
I am actually so scared because this is like stressed me out so much
I can't quite remember what all of the subjects are worth for my total A level but I know both the English ones are 20%.
I've been trying to do them at home but it's really hard to concentrate our home because of other reasons. And then the one (supposed) quiet block is way too loud because the teachers talk in it.
My chronic pain is also been really bad recently in general, for me stress and anxiety makes it way worse. I have no idea how I'm going to sit through the examine that much pain and concentrate on the questions.
