Hello! My baby is newly 5 months old and has been on a schedule of 2/2.5/2.5/3 for the past week. She connects nap cycles so we have to wake her from most of her naps with a goal of 3 hours of naps during the day and 11 hours overnight. She handles her wake windows very well. Usually her schedule looks like:
DWT: 0700
Nap #1: 0900-1000
Nap #2: 1230-1345
Nap #3: 1615-1700 (Usually less than 45 min and always woken up by 5p for 8p bedtime)
Bedtime: 2000
She is sleep trained for nights using Ferber. Routine is feed, bath, lotion, jammies, book, place in crib awake. She usually is able to put herself to sleep in about 5 minutes with no fussing or crying.
The issue we are having is she keeps waking up crying at around 11pm. Sometimes she is able to put herself back to sleep. We usually wait up to 15 minutes to see if she will settle on her own. But half the time she needs us to intervene and rock her back to sleep and then she will be in and out of sleep for about 30 minutes before finally falling back to sleep.
The only time in the past week she hasn’t had this 11pm wake up is when she woke up early from her first nap so her second nap ended up being around 1h 40. That night she only woke up once at 2am for a feed.
Is the solution to just let her nap longer for that second nap even if that means cutting the third nap shorter? Is she undertired? Overtired?
Would appreciate any guidance and assistance!!
Thank you!
