Patellar Subluxation at Jiu-Jitsu

Hey all!

I partially dislocated my kneecap at jiu-jitsu training 7 days ago. Audible pop, and two seconds later popped back in. Took 24 hours to realise I had done some damage, I could walk and shallow squat but it was quite tender around the joints. I have done the RICE protocol, but because I can walk etc I have overdone it some. I started doing some light rehab and have also found it to irritate so I have stopped for now.

This last happened when I was 15 years old, and I am now 30 so I was very upset it had happened again. It takes a lot of desensitisation to get over injuries like that.

I am very committed to doing the rehab and strengthening I need to do. I’m quite a strong female (I can do weighted pull ups for instance) but I have neglected lower body which I strongly regret.

I can’t wait to train on the mats again. Can anyone share similar experiences or just give me some hope? I am hating this. Thank you
