I am currently going through a protocol to treat IMO and wanted to see if any of you had feedback on it.

What I am currently taking:
- Xifaxan (3 times daily) to treat hydrogen producers helping methanogens - 550mg per dose
- Metronidazole (3 times daily) to treat methanogens - 250mg per dose
- NAC (3 times daily 30 min before meals) for biofilm disruption - 600mg per dose
- Ginger / Artichoke extract (2 times daily before meals) for motility support - 320 mg per dose
- Magnesium Citrate (1 times daily before bedtime) - 200 mg
- Saccharomyces Boulardii for probiotics support (1 time daily with food) - 250mg / 5 billion CFU
- Atrantil (3 times a day with food) to reduce methanogens

So far I feel good except that I am experiencing much more bowel movements on the second day (but I guess that is normal with reducing methane).

Any advice / feedback on my protocol would be greatly appreciated :) I have learned a ton from this community and I am posting this to help other people on their way to heal!

I have been suffering from IMO for a year now and I am now working with a functional doctor to treat it. During my last breath test my methane levels were at 26 ppm. I did the anti vinculin antibody testing and it was positive which shows my SIBO root cause is probably motility.

I recently talked to my doctor and let them know that I already have some ear issue (hearing loss and tinnitus in my left ear) and they recommended I only take Xifaxan as treatment. I am afraid that if they don’t put me on a specific methane killer drug that it is basically going to do nothing for me. They said that Metronidazole doesn’t have strong evidence to treat IMO so they didn’t prescribed it. Did some people take Metronidazole and get good results with it? Could I take maybe Allicin instead of it to kill methane? Looking for advice and feedback here.
