Hi everyone, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I’ve tried a few Australian specific forums without much success.

I am a current Year 12 student in Australia living in Melbourne and am looking to go into IB after I graduate. I am lucky enough to basically have the option to go to any university in Australia, so it’s really up to which one is the best option. I have narrowed it down to a few ones which seem the best to me, but if anyone has any other suggestions that would be much appreciated.

My current shortlist is:

  1. UNSW Maths/Commerce
I enjoy maths and it would give me valuable technical skills for IB. Commerce is a necessary addition and my major would be in finance. As far as I know UNSW seems to be one of the best universities for STEM in Australia, and its location in Sydney would offer a lot more access to internship opportunities and job options later down the road due to the larger financial sector there.

  2. USyd Law/Commerce
This seems to be the most traditional route for finance in Australia from what I’ve read, but there does seem to be a bit of a shift towards favouring more STEM focused double degrees (correct me if I’m wrong). Similar location benefits as UNSW

  3. Unimelb Commerce (honours)
Slightly reticent about this option as it does not have the option for a double degree, but in some ways that might be beneficial as it opens me up to more time to network, as well as giving me more course flexibility and likely increasing my WAM as it would be easier than the previous two degrees. I also would not have to move as far from home. Location would also be a bit worse, but it would be possible to take internship opportunities in Sydney if they come up and temporarily live there for those periods, plus Melbourne is by no means barren.

Final secret/wild option:
Bocconi BIEF
Obviously much more international prestige, but comes at a higher price tag (I have EU citizenship so I am eligible for their ‘low interest’ loans), more relocation, and would need a lot of work for me to get internships in The Netherlands, London, or Spain (I speak Dutch and Spanish, but not Italian. My Spanish and Dutch are also good but not perfect so they would require some work, but I think that getting them up to scratch would be achievable as I speak those languages every day with my parents already). Only really realistic if it’s much much better than my domestic options

Sorry about the lengthy post, any advice at all is appreciated. Thanks.
