I have all the methane symptoms (more than a year) and after much begging got doc to prescribe 2 weeks of rifaxmin. I was bloated as usual but my joint pains and fatigue reduced. During day 1-7 on meds I had that perfect type stool . WITHOUT any Laxative. Usually I need 10 ml of stimulant laxative to go. Nothing else works (ever since symptoms began which is a year ago)
My gi refused to consider breath test because he believes it isn't reliable and does not believe I have IMO coz I don't have smelly flatulence as a symptom. He is the only doctor who didn't write this off as stress or lifestyle issue. And only this hospital has sibo breath test in my sray
I'm going to visit my GI next week. This is my last chance. I will not be visiting him again. Please tell me what I should ask him to get the right test and treatment. Should I show him any particular study that he might believe...or something anything to convince that this isn't just IBS and sthn I have to live with (that's what he said during my last visit)☹️
