Hi everyone,
(sorry in advance for the long text)
maybe someone here can help me out, since I seem to be stuck in an endless loop of repetitive responses with support, and neither of us knows what to do next.
A few weeks ago, my Kobra 3 started making a loud noise during calibration (you can find a video of it below). It only happens during calibration not while printing, changing filament, or anything else.
Before I even opened a support ticket, I tried to figure out what the issue was on my own and whether I could fix it myself. Here’s what I’ve already done:
- Completely recalibrated (multiple times)
- Replaced the X-axis belt
- Checked whether the X- and Y-axis belts are properly adjusted (they are)
- Cleaned and re-lubricated the X and Y rails
- Completely removed, cleaned, and even replaced the whole print head
- Removed, cleaned, and re-installed the build plate
- Reset the printer to factory settings
Since I was at my wit’s end and the device is still under warranty, I opened a support ticket on March 5th. What followed were instructions to recalibrate the printer, adjust the belts properly, or move the printer to a different location (the printer has more than enough space). I had already done all of this multiple times and had informed support of that as well with in total of 10 Videos in different angles. Throughout the entire process, I was sent various messages over and over again, probably in the hope that by the twentieth time I calibrated it and the fifth time I checked the belts and rails, the problem would magically disappear.
At some point, they claimed that they had never received any videos from me... Strangely enough, I only received this message via mail, but it disappeared from the ticket system on the same day, and the ticket was marked as “in progress”. After that, I was ghosted for three weeks, only to receive the exact same message again, telling me to follow the video, calibrate the printer, and check the belts....
So I did some research on my own and read here that it could be either an X-axis motor issue or even a mainboard problem. I told support this, but they ignored my message and just sent me another request asking me to check a third time whether the rails on the X and Y axes were damaged or worn out.

Should I just take a gamble and buy a new motor or mainboard? Or should I maybe just close the ticket and open a new one, hoping that a different person will be more helpful?
