Dealership says because I’m in a cold climate (Minnesota) I need to follow the severe driving maintenance schedule (sec 9-8 of user manual ) which requires oil changes every 5,000 miles. However, the user manual for US, Canada and Puerto Rico does not list cold climate as a severe driving conditions (sec 9-6), so it reads that the interval can be every 10,000 miles. I’ve reached out to Mazda USA and they weren’t much help as they pretty much said follow whatever dealerships says.

Anyone have any knowledge on this? Mainly trying to figure out what’s required to maintain the warranty which says to follow the manufactures maintenance schedule
