Hey, I'm Irving. Based in Mexico, been freelancing remote for about 5 years with clients in the US, UK, Canada, and NZ.

Three things I end up doing most:

Scrapers that hold up at scale. My last big one pulled 500k articles in 4 hours. I deal with enterprise bot protection (Akamai and friends) and reverse-engineer mobile APKs when the website is too locked down.

Data pipelines and small backends. Dagster, FastAPI, Postgres, Docker. One of my Canadian clients runs a daily pipeline against 80k+ listings with an ML price model on top of it.

Custom web apps. Usually Next.js and Postgres. Scheduling tools, dashboards, internal portals. Good fit if you're paying monthly for a SaaS that almost fits your workflow.

A few recent things, in case it's useful:

  • Won a flight scraper contest, got hired by the company that ran it. 10x faster than what they had.
  • Built a near-real-time multilingual subtitle system for a UK livestream platform (20+ languages).
  • Published an open source Python HTTP library with browser TLS fingerprinting (github.com/Sekinal/tlshttp).
  • Fine-tuned a 27B model for Nahuatl-Spanish translation, just for fun.

Background: BSc in Physics, 3.9 GPA. Native Spanish, professional English.

Rate: $40/hr.
