I know it probably gets asked very often, but I’m looking for more specific answers and opinions from people taking this course and maybe those who have been in similar circumstances.

I’m graduating this May with a BS in CS, from maybe like a T200 (average state school). If I have a cs newgrad job, and my dream is to eventually get into companies on tier with Google/microsoft/stripe/databricks, it worth pursuing a OMSCS?

Because I heard from some GT alumni that big companies recruiters sometimes ignore, or aren’t impress by GT masters degree (it’s usually omscs, and they perceive it as easier or diluted. That’s not my belief, but that’s what I’ve sometimes heard)

Essentially, I want to pursue omscs, but I’m worried that after 3-4 years of taking it alongside a full time job, the way some people perceive it would mean it won’t help me get into these companies as much as I anticipated.

Is it better to just lock in and focus on my current company, and try to level up as much as possible from there without omscs distracting me?

When is OMSCS appropriate?

Some of my friends who are graduating this may with no job lined up are considering Gatech’s OMSCS for time to find more internships and for the school name.

But what if graduating this may, I have a newgrad job lined up? Does it look bad for me to utilize my new workplace’s tuition reimbursement to do OMSCS right after they just barely hired me? Or should I wait some time, etc.

Any advices?
