I feel like this French film, The Advent Calendar (aka Le Calendrier), doesn’t get nearly enough credit for its creativity and execution. It’s one of those body horror films that makes you feel something far deeper than the cheap adrenaline of jump scares.

The premise is fresh and engaging, strong enough to keep the viewer invested without relying on overused horror tropes. Instead of predictable shocks, the film builds tension through atmosphere and character choices.

You have to give it to the French.. they know how to craft intelligent horror (Martyrs, Raw etc..) . With a solid script, performances, and beutiful cinematography, the film feels authentic and unique in a way.. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s absolutely worth your time.
