I’m applying to a school. They recently decreased the amount of LORs they accept from 3 to 2.
I have an incredible recommendation from a CRNA I shadowed… and I’m trying to decide who my second person should be.
The admissions page says:
“Letters of Recommendation: At least one letter of recommendation from a clinical specialist, nurse manager, or clinical educator who can speak directly to the applicant’s clinical excellence, leadership, and readiness for advanced study.”
The no-brainer should probably be my nurse manager. However, she’s out with either a family emergency or health concerns. I had requested the letter months ago, but last week when we spoke she told me she was still working on it. So I’d have to request it… in the midst of whatever difficulty she’s going through. That just feels insensitive and unkind. Additionally, I have a cardiac intensivist who wrote a really great letter.
So when it says “clinical specialist” could that encompass an intensivist? Will a program raise an eyebrow at an applicant who doesn’t include their manager?
