Legal aftermath of getting caught having stolen a newborn after raising it for 8 years
Just finished watching >!Angel of Mine (2019) !<. The premise is a >!fire burnt down a hospital. In which, a young mother’s newborn died, but she found another newborn who needed help, saved and raised it as her own. 8 years later the biological mother notices them and proves it’s her own.!<
I’m curious what the legal repurcussions would realistically be if the biological mother didn’t want to press charges, and both families were relatively amicable in slowly swapping custody over to the biological mother (to give the child time to adapt). Film is Australia based, but for my curiosity I’d like to know how proceedings in Maryland, USA would look.
