I have a 2024 Jetta with the 1.4t. I brought it to the dealership after the check engine light came on and it starting running rough. They drained the gas tank and replaced the fuel pump (under warranty). They said that the gas smelled off and suspected bad gas killed the fuel pump.

When I picked it up, the service advisor recommended using premium fuel, claiming that the 1.4t Jettas struggle with 87 octane especially in hot conditions (I live in Phoenix, AZ). I've always filled up with 87 under the assumption the computer would adjust accordingly. Has anyone else experienced or heard of similar issues?
