These are two of my NOAs. One from 2021, and one from 2025 (I left to go do volunteer work in 2021, and moved back to Canada mid-2025, and had minimal income those years - 2021 was the most recent return I had where I had something comparable to 2025). Can someone make sense of this and tell me whether or not 2025 was incorrectly calculated?
UFile said I’d receive a credit this year, so I was surprised when I learned I owed $600, especially when I made significantly less in 2025 than in 2021. But just looking at the assessment, I don’t understand how their calculations are so different in taxes and CPP contributions, as well as why the non-refundable tax credit is not bringing the owed amount down to 0 when it’s more than the amount payable. Additionally, both last year and this year, the assessment says they increase my total payable “due to a calculation error”, but there’s no explanation as to what that means
Is this worth filing an objection over?
