Transferring GEHU -> GEU (Deemed)
Hey everyone,
I’m currently finishing my 1st year at GEHU with an 8.48 SGPA. I’m considering a lateral move to the Deemed campus for 2nd year. I’m also doing a degree from IIT Madras on the side, so I’m really trying to optimize my schedule to focus on actual skills rather than "busywork."
I need the ground reality on a few things:
Syllabus & Professors: I’ve heard Deemed is more "direct" with the CS curriculum. Does 2nd year at Deemed still force you into things like Workshop/Carpentry, AutoCAD, and Engineering Drawing, or do they move straight into core subjects (Data Structures, OS, Discrete Math)? Also, how are the CS professors—are they flexible
Opportunities & Hackathons: At Hill, it feels like people just want to clear assignments. Does the Deemed campus have more creative/serious coding circles? I’m looking for a crew that actually wants to build things.
from some seniors that since Deemed is autonomous, the exams are more straightforward and the marking isn't as erratic as the state-board pattern. Can anyone confirm if it’s "easier" to maintain a high CGPA there?
Placement Prep: Does being on the Deemed campus give you earlier or better access to placement training/internship drives compared to Hill, or is it the same CRC for everyone?
I'll be losing my State Scholarship for this move, so I want to make sure the "environment upgrade" is actually real and not just marketing.
