Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some insight regarding my 2024 Kia K5. The car currently has 12,000 km on the odometer and is about a year and a half old. Recently, I’ve noticed a significant change in performance compared to when it was brand new.
Vehicle Specs & Maintenance:
• Model: 2024 Kia K5.
• Transmission: 8-Speed Automatic.
• Maintenance: I am strictly committed to the periodic maintenance schedule at the official dealership here in my country. All oil changes and inspections are up to date.
Driving Pattern:
Due to my work nature, the car sits idle for about a week at a time. When I do use it, it’s only for commuting 3 to 4 times a week.
The Issues:
1. Transmission Jerking: I’m experiencing noticeable "jerks" or rough shifts between almost every gear change. It’s no longer as smooth as it used to be.
2. Loss of Power/Torque: The engine feels sluggish, and the overall acceleration has noticeably decreased.
Questions:
• Could sitting idle for a week at a time cause the 8-speed transmission's adaptive learning to develop these rough shifting patterns?
• Since I'm regular with dealership maintenance, could this be a known software issue or a sensor (like the MAF or O2 sensor) acting up due to low usage?
• Has anyone else with the 8-speed K5 experienced similar power loss at such low mileage?
I’d appreciate any advice before I take it back to the dealer for a deep dive. Thanks!
