Are TopUpLive’s Arena Breakout “discounts” actually real? I did the math...

Are TopUpLive’s Arena Breakout “discounts” actually real? I did the math...

I wanted to check how accurate TopUpLive’s discounts really are compared to the official in-game store for Arena Breakout Mobile.

For example, in the official mobile game store, the 630 Bonds pack costs 199 MXN, which is around $11.50 USD using XE’s currency converter.

On TopUpLive, the same package is listed as 630 + 45 Bonds, so 675 Bonds total. Without any creator coupon, the price shown is:

  • 151.43 MXN
  • $8.78 USD

TopUpLive claims this is a 13% official discount. However, when you open the discount breakdown, it says the original price is:

  • 172.30 MXN
  • $9.99 USD

And the official discount is:

  • 20.87 MXN
  • $1.21 USD

So the math is:

172.30 MXN - 20.87 MXN = 151.43 MXN
$9.99 USD - $1.21 USD = $8.78 USD

But here’s the first issue:
20.87 MXN is not 13% of 172.30 MXN. It is around 12.11%.

Same thing in USD:

$1.21 is around 12.11% of $9.99.

So the “13% official discount” is actually closer to 12.11%, not a full 13%.

Now, when applying a creator coupon, in my case the code “sade” or "stream", TopUpLive says the total discount becomes 23%, and the final price becomes:

  • 133.25 MXN
  • $7.72 USD

The discount breakdown says:

Original price:

  • 172.30 MXN
  • $9.99 USD

Official discount:

  • 20.87 MXN
  • $1.21 USD

Creator coupon:

  • 18.18 MXN
  • $1.06 USD

Final price:

  • 133.25 MXN
  • $7.72 USD

At first, I thought the creator coupon was not really giving the advertised extra 12%. But after doing the math, it looks like the creator coupon is being applied to the already-discounted price, not to the original price.

So:

151.43 MXN × 12% = 18.17 MXN, rounded to 18.18 MXN
151.43 MXN - 18.18 MXN = 133.25 MXN

And in USD:

$8.78 × 12% = $1.05, rounded to around $1.06
$8.78 - $1.06 = $7.72

So the creator coupon itself does seem to work as a real 12% discount, but only after the official discount has already been applied.

The confusing part is that 13% + 12% does not equal a straight 25% discount when the discounts are applied one after another.

If TopUpLive gave a true 13% official discount first, and then a true 12% creator discount after that, the price should be:

MXN:
172.30 × 0.87 × 0.88 = 131.91 MXN

USD:
9.99 × 0.87 × 0.88 = $7.65 USD

But the actual final price is:

  • 133.25 MXN
  • $7.72 USD

So compared to a proper 13% + 12% stacked discount, the difference is:

  • 1.34 MXN
  • $0.07 USD

Not huge, but still slightly off.

If someone understands the promotion as a full 25% total discount from the original price, then the final price should be:

MXN:
172.30 × 0.75 = 129.23 MXN

USD:
9.99 × 0.75 = $7.49 USD

Compared to the actual TopUpLive price:

  • Actual: 133.25 MXN / $7.72 USD
  • Expected with true 25% discount: 129.23 MXN / $7.49 USD

Difference:

  • 4.03 MXN
  • $0.23 USD

So, in my opinion, the creator coupon is not exactly fake. It does seem to give around 12%, but the way the promotion is presented can be misleading.

The real issues are:

  1. The “13% official discount” is actually around 12.11%.
  2. The creator coupon is applied after the official discount, not directly to the original price.
  3. The final effective discount is around 22.66%, which TopUpLive rounds up to 23%.
  4. If people think they are getting a full 25% off, they are not.

That said, compared to the official in-game store, TopUpLive is still cheaper.

Official mobile store:

  • 630 Bonds
  • 199 MXN
  • Around $11.50 USD

TopUpLive with creator coupon:

  • 675 Bonds
  • 133.25 MXN
  • $7.72 USD

So compared to buying directly in the app, the savings are:

  • 65.75 MXN
  • $3.78 USD

That is around a 33% lower total price, and since TopUpLive also gives 45 extra Bonds, the cost per Bond is even better.

Cost per Bond:

Official store:

199 MXN / 630 Bonds = 0.3159 MXN per Bond

TopUpLive with coupon:

133.25 MXN / 675 Bonds = 0.1974 MXN per Bond

So the cost per Bond is around 37.5% cheaper compared to the official mobile store.

Soooooo.....

TopUpLive does seem to be cheaper than the official in-game store, especially when using a creator coupon. However, the way they advertise the discounts is a bit slippery. The “13%” official discount is really closer to 12.11%, and the creator coupon does not turn the total discount into a full 25%. The real total discount is closer to 22.66%, rounded up to 23%.

So the discount presentation is definitely not as clean as it looks.
