Ive been lurking in the subreddit forever, maybe ten years now, and after recently teaching myself how to turn throat gurgles into burps I figured Id make a post hoping it helps at least 1 person. I also am not sure if this post is necessary / helpful but a post like this is what helped me . So. Maybe it'll work out.
For some information, I'm 36M, and until recently have never been able to burp, and I specifically remember not being able to burp since the fourth grade when I was at a camp and they had a burping contest and that was when I realized literally everyone but me could burp.
I've had throat Gurgles my whole life, never understood how people could drink more than 1 or 2 beers without be " full" and have had some pretty crazy bloated stomachs at times. I guess the whole point so far is I want to be very clear that I've definitely experiences everything here and without surgery or the injection I do think its something that can be fixed.
I first got the idea that something must not be working right in my neck from other people's posts and I guess ultimately ( maybe this is well known or what I'm saying is close enough to accurate ) the issue seems to be a muscle not relaxing correctly to allow the gurgles out. This is why botox , a muscle relaxer , fixes the problem for so many people. Going into trying to fix it with this in mind is super important. The gurgle can't get out because the throat is " closed off" , at least, in my case.
So over the course of about three months I forced throat gurgles constantly and would try to " open" the throat or relax the muscles. I failed for a long time , probably 2 months of just constantly doing this, then one day a small burp happened and I kinda locked in on that feeling and tried to copy it. Its been probably 5 or 6 months now and I no longer have the gurgles and I can burp freely.
I doubt its the same for everyone and I also doubt Im bringing earth shattering information but I wanted to have a positive post sharing that it , at least for some people, is fixable. I also don't know if I can explain it any better than just " leave your throat open" but visualizing that is what helped me the most. Also just forcing it constantly .
Hope this helps.
